Advanced Industrial Organization
The goal of this course is to analyze topics that are important for an understanding of such decision-making and firm behavior. Besides standard concepts such as price competition, product choice and market power, the course takes on topics such as free entry, switching costs, specific forms of price differentiation and bundling, asymmetric information, tying and platform markets. The integration of real-world cases in the course permits to focus on novel issues, such as competition policy in network markets, platform design, as well as pricing under asymmetric information.
Schedule for Winter Term 2019/2020:
The course consists of a lecture (2 SWS) and exercise classes (1 SWS).
The lecture takes place on Monday, 15:00 – 16:30 in room LG 5.155, it starts on Monday, 21 October 2019.
On 28 October and on 4 November 2019 there will be double slots (15:00 – 18:15) in room LG 5.155.
The exercise classes take place on Monday, 9:45 – 11:15 in room LG 5.154.

The password for the StudOn-Course is „AIOMaster“. Please register there and bring the material for chapters 1-3 to the first lecture, so you can make additional notes during the lecture.
The written exam takes place on Monday, 3 February 2020, 9:45 – 11:15 in room LG H3.
